-
Photoshop: The ultimate post
processing program in my humble opinion. A lot of of variations, many
abilities, sometimes you get lost in creativity. Can be difficult to
learn.
-
Lightroom: The ultimate RAW
developing program (it is included in some ugly way in Photoshop, but
it is easier stand alone). You can apply most of color and light
corrections here. Selective color saturation and hue are only two of
them. Avoid exaggerations however attractive because they increase
digital noise.
-
RAW developing offers more
options than a compressed JPG file. This includes up to 2 stops of
exposure correction, fill light, color manipulation. Keep corrections to
low levels, do not exaggerate as unwanted noise may appear!

Organize your photos by
theme, tags or date. Use of folder trees will do for any program you
use. This way you will always be able to find what you are looking for
in your archive.
